"Sweet Jimmy"
Originally a middleweight boxer, Robinson fought his way up to heavyweight while managed by a local pool hall owner. Clay was originally scheduled to fight Willie Gulat on February 7, 1961, but Gulat refused because the money wasn't enough. Robinson was a last minute replacement, and showed up at the Miami Beach Convention Hall with his gear in an old Army bag. Clay outweighed him by almost 17 pounds and knocked him out in the first round. Robinson fought for 7 more years, and after his retirement, became a regular at local pool halls and street corners. A Sports Illustrated reporter last tracked him down in Miami Beach in 1979. ESPN sports writer Wright Thompson searched unsuccessfully for Robinson for 6 years. Robinson's whereabouts are currently unknown.
