Muhammad Ali graced the cover of Sports Illustrated on 9/29/80 wearing these trunks with his Butterfly and Bee logo. He also wore the trunks during training. During his career and into his retirement, Ali appeared on 38 SI covers, which was a record he held for many years. Eventually, another great, Michael Jordon, who has appeared on 49 SI covers, surpassed him. Years after the 1980 cover, Sports Illustrated selected Ali as the greatest athlete of modern times.
